Classroom-based theory session followed by a practical hands-on session.

Topics covered include:

• Why ladder training is important

• Work at Height Regulations 2005

• Assessing ground conditions

• Types of ladders and appropriate use

• Bracing, footing, and ladder access

• Safe positioning and securing

• Inspection and maintenance records

• Ladder handling and storage

• Hazard identification and risk mitigation

• Assessment and practical demonstration

• Knowing when and when not to use ladders and stepladders

This course is a Half day course

The course is instructor lead

A short theory test is conducted at the end of the classroom session, followed by a practical assessment using steps and ladders.

Training is delivered at our Nottingham centre, which includes:

• A fully equipped classroom

• Ample delegate parking

• Practical space with a range of steps and ladders

• Handouts and printed resources

• Visual slide presentations

• Health & Safety literature related to ladder use

No formal qualifications are required. A basic understanding of workplace health and safety is helpful, but the course is suitable for all roles, even those not regularly involved in manual work.

Participants must bring the following PPE for the practical element:

• Safety footwear

• Eye protection

• Gloves

• Hi-vis clothing

• Warm, weather-appropriate clothing

Delegates will receive a UK Industries Training In-House Certificate, valid for 3 years.
