RTITB REACH FORK TRUCK TRAINING – refresher

This comprehensive training programme is designed for individuals looking to operate counterbalance forklift trucks safely, competently, and in full compliance with current health and safety regulations.

The RTITB Counterbalance Forklift Truck Training Course covers all core elements of safe truck operation, including:

  • Principles of safe counterbalance operation

  • Pre-use inspection checks and defect reporting

  • Load handling and safe stacking techniques

  • Manoeuvring in confined areas and different workplace environments

  • Awareness of workplace hazards, stability factors, and legal responsibilities

Participants will complete a mix of classroom-based theory and practical hands-on training using real equipment in our purpose-built training centre, which is specifically designed to simulate real-world operating conditions and includes all the required elements outlined in the RTITB Counterbalance course.

Upon successful completion, delegates will receive an RTITB-accredited certificate and registration, boosting both employability and safety awareness in the workplace.

⚠️ IMPORTANT NOTICE:
It is possible to obtain a counterbalance licence without covering every element of the course. However, employers should be aware that if an incident occurs involving an untrained element, the HSE may regard the training as inadequate, which could have serious legal and compliance consequences.

Duration

This course is a half day course

Format

Although it’s a PASMA course, it’s not all about mobile access towers. It covers the whole range of access equipment, thanks to specialist input from our friends in the Access Industry Forum.

There is no practical work involved in this course; it’s all classroom-based theory. No hard hats or tower climbing required!

Assessment

The written assessment tests each delegate’s understanding of the key theoretical concepts covered during the course, including risk assessment, safety regulations, and best practice when working at height. This is combined with practical elements to create a well-rounded learning experience.

This dual approach ensures that participants not only retain the essential knowledge but also develop the confidence to apply it safely and effectively in real-world situations.

Facilities used

To deliver the RTITB Counterbalance Forklift Truck Training course safely and effectively, the following facilities and equipment are typically required:

  2. Counterbalance Fork Trucks
An appropriate number of RTITB-compliant counterbalance fork trucks, maintained in safe working condition, must be available to allow for hands-on practice and assessment.

  3. Classroom Facilities
A comfortable, well-equipped classroom for delivering the theoretical elements of the course. This should include audio-visual aids, whiteboards or screens, and adequate seating for all participants.

  4. Safety Equipment (PPE)

    • Safety helmets
