IPAF DEMONSTRATOR
The IPAF (International Powered Access Federation) Demonstrator Course is designed for individuals who are responsible for demonstrating the safe and effective use of powered access equipment, such as aerial work platforms.
The course covers key areas including:
-
Equipment operation and controls
-
Safety protocols and procedures
-
Risk assessment and hazard awareness
-
Conducting practical demonstrations
Upon completion, participants will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to confidently instruct others in the safe use of MEWPs (Mobile Elevating Work Platforms), ensuring compliance and promoting best practices on site.
Target Audience
The IPAF Demonstrator Course is ideal for individuals who are required to demonstrate the safe use of MEWPs (Mobile Elevating Work Platforms), particularly during equipment handovers or site introductions.
Typical participants include:
-
Delivery drivers
-
Hire controllers
-
Engineers
-
Anyone involved in demonstrating MEWPs on delivery or collection
Outside of the core Powered Access industry, the course is also suitable for:
-
Supervisors
-
Health & Safety officers
-
Operators looking to improve their instructional and demonstration skills
This course is especially beneficial for those responsible for ensuring safe handovers, promoting best practices, and maintaining regulatory compliance on site.
Benefit Of The Course
Attending the IPAF Demonstrator Course offers several valuable benefits, including:
-
Enhanced understanding of safety standards related to MEWP operation and handover
-
Improved instructional and communication skills for demonstrating equipment use
-
The ability to promote safe working practices and train others effectively
-
A stronger contribution to workplace safety and compliance
This course empowers participants to confidently and competently guide others in the safe and proper use of powered access equipment.
Course Type
The IPAF Demonstrator Course combines classroom-based instruction with practical, hands-on training. Participants first engage in theoretical learning, covering safety protocols, equipment operation, and demonstration techniques. This is followed by practical exercises, where delegates apply their knowledge through live demonstrations, simulating real-world scenarios.
This blended approach ensures participants are fully prepared to confidently and safely demonstrate MEWP operation to others.
The IPAF Demonstrator Course covers a wide range of MEWP categories, including:
-
Static Vertical (1A)
-
Static Boom (1B, 1B+)
-
Mobile Vertical (3A, 3A+)
-
Mobile Boom (3B, 3B+)
This ensures participants are equipped to confidently demonstrate the operation and safety procedures for multiple types of powered access equipment.
Duration
This course is a 1 day course
Format
Instructor lead, classroom and practical elements.
Assessment
The IPAF Demonstrator Course is assessed through a combination of theoretical and practical evaluations.
Participants must:
-
Successfully complete a practical assessment, demonstrating their ability to carry out a thorough and safe demonstration of powered access equipment
-
Pass a theory test, covering key topics such as regulatory requirements, equipment inspection procedures, and safety protocols
Successful completion of both elements is required to earn the IPAF Demonstrator certification, verifying the delegate’s competence in instructing others on the safe use of MEWPs.
Facilities used
We provide a fully equipped classroom for theoretical instruction, along with a range of MEWPs to carry out the practical elements of the IPAF Demonstrator Course.
