IPAF HARNESS Courses
IPAF Harness Training courses are designed to equip participants with the essential knowledge and practical skills required for the safe and effective use of harness systems when working at height. These half-day programmes focus on critical aspects such as:
-
The different types of harnesses and their components
-
Correct fitting, adjustment, and inspection
-
Legal obligations and safety regulations
-
Risk assessment and safe working practices
Participants will gain hands-on experience and a thorough understanding of how to use harnesses properly in boom-type MEWPs, helping to prevent falls—the leading cause of injury or fatality when operating MEWPs, according to IPAF data.
IPAF offers three dedicated harness courses tailored to different needs:
-
Harness Awareness (HA): A theoretical overview for those who need to understand harness use
-
Harness User (HU): Practical training for individuals who wear a harness during MEWP operation
-
Harness Inspector (HI): For those responsible for inspecting and maintaining harness equipment
By the end of the course, attendees will be confident and competent in the safe use of harness systems, contributing to improved workplace safety and compliance.
Target Audience
The IPAF Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) course is aimed at individuals involved in the handling, maintenance, and operation of powered access equipment. This includes:
- Equipment Inspectors: Those responsible for performing inspections before equipment delivery.
- Maintenance Personnel: Technicians and maintenance staff who ensure the safety and reliability of powered access machinery.
- Rental Company Staff: Employees working for rental companies who need to ensure equipment is safe and compliant before it is rented out.
- Safety Managers: Individuals in charge of workplace safety who need to understand inspection protocols and compliance.
The course is suitable for anyone looking to enhance their skills and knowledge regarding powered access equipment inspections.
