PASMA NOVICE WORKING AT HEIGHTS
PASMA Work at Height (Novice) is the ideal training course for anyone who needs to quickly get up to speed on the essentials of height safety. Designed for beginners, this half-day course is delivered at an approved PASMA training centre by a qualified instructor with specialist knowledge of working at height.
Whether you’re new to working at height or looking to refresh your understanding of the basics, this course will give you the knowledge and confidence to stay safe and compliant.
By the end of the session, you’ll understand:

The types of access equipment available for different working at height tasks, including mobile access towers, ladders, podiums, and low-level platforms.

This course is ideal for anyone who works at height but doesn’t yet use mobile access towers – such as those using ladders, podiums, or scaffolds – or anyone who simply wants to build a solid foundation in height safety.

The PASMA Working at Height for Novices course is tailored for individuals with little or no prior experience working at height. It provides a solid foundation in height safety, covering the essential risks, regulations, and correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE). This course is a half day course
Format
Although it’s a PASMA course, it’s not all about mobile access towers. It covers the whole range of access equipment, thanks to specialist input from our friends in the Access Industry Forum.
There is no practical work involved in this course; it’s all classroom-based theory. No hard hats or tower climbing required!
Assessment
The written assessment tests each delegate’s understanding of the key theoretical concepts covered during the course, including risk assessment, safety regulations, and best practice when working at height. This is combined with practical elements to create a well-rounded learning experience.
This dual approach ensures that participants not only retain the essential knowledge but also develop the confidence to apply it safely and effectively in real-world situations.

All necessary course materials will be provided, including booklets, literature, slide presentations, and expert instruction. Delegates will receive everything they need to fully understand the content and confidently pass the written assessment.
Entry Requirements
The entry requirements for the PASMA Work at Height (Novice) course are designed to ensure that all participants can engage safely and effectively with the training.
There are no formal prerequisites, making the course accessible to individuals from all backgrounds and industries. However, delegates should:
