The Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) was created to provide consistent and regularly updated training for site managers and potential site managers. Our SMSTS courses cover a wide range of areas including health, safety, welfare and environmental issues. It also deals with the legal responsibility of site management and the need to promote safe and healthy working practices as part of effective supervision.
The United Kingdom Contractors Group (UKCG) recognises this course as meeting the required standard for all managers working on UKCG sites.
We run SMSTS courses regularly from our Nottingham training centre. For those who have not previously undertaken the course we provide the full five-day SMSTS training. If you have attended training in the past, then we also offer the SMSTS refresher course which can be taken providing your existing certificate has not expired.
The Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) is one of the most highly regarded and well-respected certifications a site manager can have. This course is suitable for a broad range of people in all manner of roles. If you have, or plan to have, responsibility for planning, controlling, organising or managing staff in construction, building maintenance or facilities management then this is the course for you.
Our SMSTS courses are easy to follow and utilise innovative ideas to ensure delegates remain engaged and are therefore ready to apply what they’ve learnt when they return to their working environment.

The SMSTS course is perfect for project managers, site managers, supervisors, business owners and client-based personnel. It will provide them with the knowledge and skills to ensure healthy and safe conditions for construction site employees.
The certification for this course lasts for 5 years. To stay certified the refresher course must be completed before the expiry date of the current certificate. If you fail to complete the refresher in time, then candidates must attend the full course again.
The refresher SMSTS training essentially brings the candidates health and safety knowledge up to date whilst also covering any new legislation that impacts the workplace. It will review the information from the full course, updating and building on this knowledge.
